Joe Sullivan, LCSW, CAC
President and CEO

Joe Sullivan has been a leader in the substance abuse and behavioral health field in Connecticut for almost 40 years. In 1980, he took the helm of  Midwestern Connecticut Council of Alcoholism as their CEO.

During the past 32 years Joe has led the growth of MCCA from a small outpatient clinic and 15-bed residential treatment center in Danbury with 12 employees serving 300 clients a year – to its current level of 175 employees serving more than 5,000 people a year.

Today, MCCA is one of the most respected, top-rated recovery organizations in the state, operating five outpatient clinics and two residential treatment centers in Western Connecticut.

Joe is currently serving a second term as Chairman of the Board of Advanced Behavioral Health – a provider-organized and sponsored managed care organization vital to the state’s (DMHAS) treatment system. He is also the founding Executive Director of the Westchester County Treatment Alternatives to Street Crime Program.

Over the years Joe has been involved with and served on the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Certification Board – which certifies a range of addiction treatments and prevention professionals. He is currently serving as their Treasurer. Joe has also been a member of the Connecticut Alcohol and Drug Policy Council for the past ten years and is active in advocacy work at both the state and federal level.

After receiving his B.A. from Providence College, Joe went on to earn his Masters in Social Work from the University of Michigan. For the past 35 years, he and his wife have lived in New Fairfield where they raised their five children. Joe enjoys skiing and spending time with his four grandchildren. He is considered an expert skier.

Michael F. Norton, LCSW
Vice President of Clinical Operations

Mike has worked in varying capacities in the substance abuse and mental health field for over 20 years, the last five in his current position at MCCA.  He received his MSW from the University of Connecticut School of Social Work in 1999 with concentrations in Administration and Group Work.  Throughout his career, Mike has held several clinical and leadership positions in behavioral healthcare at McCall Foundation and MCCA.

Mike is currently responsible for the clinical oversight of MCCA’s outpatient clinics in Danbury, Waterbury, New Milford, Ridgefield and Torrington as well as the residential treatment programs at McDonough House and Trinity Glen. In this role, he oversees the Sobering Center, Sunrise Terrace and the Danbury Weekend Shelter programs.  Mike also functions as the Clinical Director and Site Principal Investigator for MCCA’s participation in the National Institute of Drug Abuse Clinical Trials Network.

Instrumental in MCCA’s expansion into the Torrington and Waterbury areas, Mike continues to seek out new opportunities for MCCA to expand its services to provide Help and instill Hope to as many persons afflicted with substance abuse and mental health disorders as possible!

Glenn Connan, MBA
Vice President and CFO

Glenn has extensive experience managing both the operations and financial affairs of organizations.  Glenn joined MCCA in 2008 and is responsible for the financial health and well-being of the agency. As a member of the company’s senior management team he directs all financial and accounting activities, is involved in strategic planning, as well as assisting in the management of day-to-day operations of the company. Glenn is committed to the success of MCCA and its clients recovery. Under Glenn’s leadership and with a philosophy of “doing well by doing good” MCCA has substantially increased the number of clients served. In the four years Glenn has been with MCCA, the organization has experienced significant growth.

Prior to joining MCCA, Glenn spent nine years with Autotote Enterprises, Inc., directing the financial and accounting activities of the company. Prior to that Glenn worked as a staff accountant for the firm McGladrey & Pullen LLP. Glenn earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting as well as his Master in Business Administration from Fairfield University.

Jaya Daptardar, MHA
Vice President of Behavioral Health Administration and Reporting

With a  Bachelor’s Degree in Ayurvedic Herbal Medicine and Surgery, Jaya was a Chief Medical Officer for a 50 bed general hospital, and has more than 20 years of clinical experience. Jaya has progressively responsive experience in Behavioral Healthcare Management with the task of managing and organizing the business with high quality and high productivity standards. She concentrates on continuous growth and new opportunities for business development.

With more than 12 years of management experience, Jaya has successfully planned and implemented electronic health record systems, increasing efficiency and revenue at MCCA. She is also certified in Hospital Organization Management and billing. Jaya represents internationally and locally on a variety of topics in the field of behavioral health, as well as natural and holistic care. Client satisfaction and excellent customer service are a strong focus for Jaya. This is evidenced by her commitment to opening up more access to clients with continuation of treatment – with the goal to provide Help and instill Hope. Maribel Hammer, MHRM
Director of Human Resources

Ms. Hammer has over 23 years experience as a hands-on, Human Resources Professional and Strategic Business Partner for various organizational structures. These include fortune 500 companies, mid-size firms, in both product and service industries. Her specialization and responsibility have included: Recruitment and Retention, Employee and Labor Relations, Employment and Labor Law, Benefits Administration, Workers Compensation, Policies and Procedures, Budget and Compensation Administration, Succession Planning, Organizational Development, EEO/Diversity and Training.

Additionally, Maribel has also served as an adjunct professor for Human Resources Certification Programs and taught English as a Second Language. In addition to her Master’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Maribel is also certified as an Employee Relations Specialist and Senior Human Resources Professional through the Society of Human Resources Management.

Lee Bodkin
Director of Communications and Community Awareness

Lee joined the team at MCCA last January and is happy to be putting her communication experience and skills to work for such a worthwhile organization. Her first order of business was the creation of a new Web site that conveyed the depth and breadth of programs and services that MCCA offers. Lee is looking forward to increasing the visibility of MCCA and the wonderful work that is carried out by their caring and dedicated staff.

Previously, Lee created and successfully executed a communications strategy for the new Smilow Center at NYU Langone Medical Center utilizing traditional and new media. She has also worked as a freelance writer and editor for Time Inc. Content Solutions, and was the Managing Web Editor for Morris Media Group.
