When a service or program you choose is Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) accredited, it means your provider has passed an in depth review of its services. It is your assurance that the provider meets rigorous CARF guidelines for service and quality. A qualified endorsement that your provider conforms to nationally and internationally recognized service standards and is focused on delivering the most favorable results for you.
April 2007, MCCA hosted an invited team of surveyors from CARF International, professionals in the behavioral health and substance abuse treatment fields. They came to visit our facilities in order to review our programs, to assess how well we are doing currently in providing services to our clients, and to make recommendations on how we can do even better. On May 21, 2007 MCCA, Inc. received 3-year accreditation, the highest level of accreditation possible, from CARF International for the following programs:
MCCA was accredited for the fourth time for its Regular and Intensive Outpatient Programs, McDonough Intensive Residential Treatment Program, and Trinity Glen Long Term Care and Rehab Program in addition to the following new programs.
The Residential Detox Program, opened in January 2006, received 3-year accreditation under both the Behavioral Health and the Opioid Treatment Program Standards. CARF provides the accreditation inspection under the auspices of the federal government necessary to be federally licensed as a methadone detox provider. The accreditation also makes the MCCA Residential Detox Program eligible for reimbursement as a provider for a wide range of health care payers.
The Adolescent Residential Treatment (ART) Program, opened in 2004, was also accredited for the first time. The ART Program received an integrated accreditation for both Mental Health and Substance Abuse treatment for Children and Adolescents. This accreditation was also for 3 years. The ART Program is one of only two residential treatment programs for adolescents in the state of CT that meet the CARF standards.
Founded as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, CARF International is an independent, nonprofit accreditor of human service providers in the areas of aging services, behavioral health, child and youth services, employment and community services, medical rehabilitation, and Opioid Treatment Programs (as an accreditor for SAMHSA-CSAT). CARF accredited service providers meet the highest national and international standards for quality.
CARF accredits approximately 5,000 providers at more than 17,000 locations in the United States, Canada, Western Europe, and South America. Close to 6 million persons of all ages are served annually by CARF-accredited providers. CARF accreditation gives assurance that:
- The programs or services actively involve consumers in selecting, planning, and using services.
- The organization's programs and services have met consumer-focused, state-of-the-art international standards of performance.
- These standards were developed with the involvement and input of consumers.
- The organization is focused on assisting each consumer in achieving his or her chosen goals and outcomes.
MCCA is proud of its achievements and accreditation by CARF International.
