Sunrise Terrace

Updated January 2009,

Sunrise Terrace, MCCA's new 16 bed transitional housing facility has opened. The residents who will rent the townhouse-style two-bedroom units at Sunrise Terrace for approximately one year are thrilled and excited to move into this new facility. This new transitional housing opportunity will provide a positive step in the maintenance of their recovery. Dawn Wilson, Director of Sunrise Terrace states, "MCCA is proud to have a progressive program and the entire team is happy to be in our new facility."

Sunrise Terrace was built to create transitional housing for people in recovery.  In Sunrise Terrace individuals will rent two-bedroom townhouse units.  Each participant will share the common areas of the unit with a house mate who can provide help and support and each resident will have his/her own bedroom for privacy.

Sunrise Terrace will be substance-free and all participants will share the common purpose of recovery.  MCCA will provide case management services to all participants based upon their individualized needs.  Our case managers will assist participants with vocational, educational, legal, medical and psychiatric needs as well as providing support in early recovery issues that may arise.

The goal is to help each participant make positive and long-lasting behavior changes that result in improved quality of life.  All participants will be required to continue relapse prevention treatment at the level appropriate to their circumstances.  Most will attend weekly group or individual counseling sessions, as well as outside self-help meetings.  MCCA pledges to help each participant achieve his/her long term recovery goals.

The average length of stay at Sunrise Terrace will be one year.  Our case managers are committed to helping participants find permanent housing conducive to continued recovery after their stay at Sunrise Terrace.

Case Management Services

Each Sunrise Terrace participant will receive case management assistance in the areas of educational, vocational, legal, medical and psychiatric services and referrals as the needs of the individual warrant.

Fees

The rent is very affordable for this area to allow residents to save money for the future.  There is also a security deposit (one month’s rent) refundable if the unit is well maintained.
Funding to build Sunrise Terrace has been provided by CHFA and DMHAS

Sunrise Terrace will provide:

  • A safe and supportive environment
  • Case management services for each resident
  • A place where residents participate in decisions about the community
  • A place to build a strong recovery support network
